As an athlete I believed I could beat anyone. There was not an athlete I would face that would have me second guess my skills, abilities or heart to win. I was born to play basketball. My father played, my uncles played, cousins and other siblings. It is what we did. At the age of 7 years old my mother had rented out a gym and had a basketball party for me. She invited my classmates and other friends. There was only one rule - You had to know the basketball basics (no traveling).
That was my first real encounter playing against other people. My dad had bred me to play basketball. I went on the play college ball against some of the best players in college and in the NBA. I did not care who I was playing against there was going to be one outcome. My team was going to win. I believed my team could win because I had been raised to believe I could win.
In business there is no physical demand on your body like sports. However, the biggest demand is on your mental capacities. What makes the greatest athletes of all time great is their ability to play the game above the rim in regards to their mental capabilities. They believe they can win. Losing is not an option. When we enter business we must believe our success is a must.
Do athlete always win? The answer to that question is no. On the other end of the question is a statement that great athletes win even when they lose. In order to be a success it has to first start with you. You must believe you can win and there must be an action plan in in place to make that happen. What are you going to do to change your current situation? How are you going to win? You must know exactly what you want out of life and you have to go out and get it. No one is going to do it for you. You must be persistent and consistent in making your dreams become your reality. Now shape up and let's make it happen.
